“ Our lived experiences are reflected in our movement; our movement tells the story of the life that we have lived.”
-Shawn L. Copeland - Founder of mBODYed
Carving out my own space…
Founded in 2022, mBODYed has organically grown out of a time of significant change. Facing the loss of my performance career, I realized that I am, first and foremost, a teacher, and one of the things that I love to do the most is train others to teach. From the quarantine, we learned that Somatic practices could be taught online. mBODYed began as an opportunity to train teachers in the Alexander Technique and Body Mapping within an online environment. Over the past two years, the work has grown through my collaboration with those who have come to work with me. At mBODYed, we combine the Alexander Technique and Body Mapping through the lens of safety and belonging with neuroscience, cognitive learning theories, and somatic trauma healing.
At mBODYed, we help you embody your creativity and arrive at a new level of artistic freedom in your performances and teaching. We understand that movement is the direct path from imagination to performance. Our work together will help you find the authentic expression of your creativity and imagination.
For those interested, we will guide you in further developing your performance skills and teaching through additional training leading to certification in Body Mapping and the Alexander Technique.
