Community Courses

Somatic learning for musicians, educators, and artists.

Our community courses are designed to meet you where you are—whether you're recovering from burnout, seeking clarity in your body, or just curious about a new way to move and teach.

Our Approach to Learning

These aren’t traditional technique classes.
They’re somatic spaces for sustainable change.

We call these community courses because we learned a while ago that there needs to be a community around somatic conversations and learning in the arts!

Each class draws from the Alexander Technique, Body Mapping, nervous system education, and somatic coaching. But more importantly, each course respects your current capacity. That’s why we offer self-paced options, gentle progressions, and clear pathways forward.

You do not need to be in pain, and you don’t need to be perfect. Just bring your curiosity and your body, exactly as it is.

If you are new to Somatics in general, we recommend that you start with Get Back in Your Body: An Intro to Somatics. Otherwise, feel free to sign up for as many or as few courses as you please. Courses will be circulated and repeated, and new courses will be added as they are developed. Check back often, or sign up for the newsletter to stay in touch!

    Foundation Series

Begin here if you’re new to somatics or returning after a long time away.
These classes help you reconnect with your body, breath, and internal cues.

Get Back in Your Body: An Intro to Somatics
Somatics is the art of listening to your body as a trustworthy guide. In this intro, you’ll learn how states shape performance and teaching—and how small, kind experiments create durable change. No perfectionism required. Just curiosity, clarity, and care.
    (Self-paced. On-demand videos + PDF workbook.)

Posture Reset: Relief for Back & Neck Tension
If you end rehearsals with a tight neck, aching low back, or a ribcage that feels “stuck,” you’re not alone. This class helps you replace bracing with coordinated, breathable support. Using Body Mapping, you’ll update your internal map of posture so the head, spine, and ribs can move as designed—reducing strain while improving tone and stamina. No forcing. Clear information, small experiments, real relief.
(Live 6-week course with replays available)

Performance Anxiety & Overwhelm: Get Calm Under Pressure
When pressure rises, the body does what it knows: speed up, shut down, or over-function. This course offers simple, body-based tools to recognize your state and shift toward steadier performance. We’ll pair Body Mapping with nervous-system skills you can use in rehearsal, backstage, and onstage—without shaming yourself or fighting your biology.
(Live 6-week course with replays available)

    Integration Series

You’ve already started your somatic journey. Now you’re ready to deepen it. These classes offer practice-based learning, embodiment labs, and system-wide clarity.

Unlearn Tension: Alexander Technique for Musicians
When habits take over, we push, brace, and hope for the best. Alexander Technique offers a kinder route: notice, pause, choose. In this introduction, you’ll learn simple directions and experiments to reduce strain, improve coordination, and bring more choice to your playing, teaching, and daily life.
(6-week Live class with replays + guided practices, performance class)

Pain-Free Technique: Neck, Shoulders, Arms & Hands
If your “technique work” equals more effort and less ease, this class reframes the map. You’ll clarify how the head, spine, shoulder girdle, and arm spirals actually coordinate, so sound and accuracy improve while effort drops. Expect clear anatomy-in-action, tiny experiments, and immediate wins you can feel.
(6-week Live class with replays + guided practices, performance class)

Breath Support Without Pushing (Winds & Voice)
What is support? How do we support? If you ask 100 people these questions, you’ll get 100 different answers. Let’s explore why! This course clarifies how the diaphragm, ribs, and spine coordinate so breath can respond to your musical intent. You’ll trade bracing for buoyant support, expand resonance, and keep endurance—without squeezing for sound.
(6-week Live class with replays + guided practices, performance class)
